Central bank interest rates and meeting dates 2026–2027
The policy rate of each central bank behind the major currency pairs, when it last changed, and when each bank decides next. Every figure comes from the bank's own website and is cross-checked against the BIS policy-rate series. Rates include every decision announced up to the date above.

Policy-rate gap for 10 major currency pairs
For a currency pair, what matters is the difference between the two policy rates, not either rate alone. The table subtracts the quote currency's rate from the base currency's (where the Fed sets a range, the gap is shown as a range). A positive gap means the base currency carries the higher policy rate.
| Pair | Base rate | Quote rate | Gap (base − quote) | Next decision for either side |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EUR/USD | EUR 2.50% | USD 3.75–4.00% | −1.50 to −1.25 pp | Fed, 9 Dec 2026 |
| GBP/USD | GBP 4.00% | USD 3.75–4.00% | 0.00 to +0.25 pp | Fed, 9 Dec 2026 |
| USD/JPY | USD 3.75–4.00% | JPY 1.25% | +2.50 to +2.75 pp | Fed, 9 Dec 2026 |
| USD/CHF | USD 3.75–4.00% | CHF 0.00% | +3.75 to +4.00 pp | Fed, 9 Dec 2026 |
| USD/CAD | USD 3.75–4.00% | CAD 2.50% | +1.25 to +1.50 pp | Fed, 9 Dec 2026 |
| AUD/USD | AUD 4.85% | USD 3.75–4.00% | +0.85 to +1.10 pp | RBA, 8 Dec 2026 |
| NZD/USD | NZD 2.75% | USD 3.75–4.00% | −1.25 to −1.00 pp | RBNZ, 9 Dec 2026 |
| EUR/JPY | EUR 2.50% | JPY 1.25% | +1.25 pp | ECB, 17 Dec 2026 |
| GBP/JPY | GBP 4.00% | JPY 1.25% | +2.75 pp | BoE, 17 Dec 2026 |
| EUR/GBP | EUR 2.50% | GBP 4.00% | −1.50 pp | ECB, 17 Dec 2026 |
This is a gap between official policy rates. It is not the swap or rollover rate a broker charges, and it says nothing about where the rates are expected to go. Markets usually move on changes in the expected path of both rates, which is why a decision that matches expectations can leave a pair unmoved.

How to use this table for a fundamental bias
- Compare the two sides of a pair. A fundamental bias on a currency pair is always relative, and the policy-rate gap is its most common anchor.
- Note the next decision for either currency. Until it passes, the rate inputs to a bias are about to change.
- Read the statement, not just the number. Guidance about future decisions often matters more than the decision itself.
- Check the releases between meetings on an economic calendar. Inflation and jobs data shape the next decision.
