Decision days as the Bank of Japan publishes them. Final day of each Monetary Policy Meeting. Dates up to 5 November 2026 are marked as held.

The Bank of Japan has no fixed announcement time: it publishes the decision as soon as the meeting ends, Tokyo time, so the UK time varies.

Currency pairs the BoJ moves

A rate decision moves JPY pairs through the gap between the two policy rates. This is the gap today for the 3 major pairs that include JPY; the full table covers all 10.

PairBase rateQuote rateGap (base − quote)
USD/JPYUSD 3.75–4.00%JPY 1.25%+2.50 to +2.75 pp
EUR/JPYEUR 2.50%JPY 1.25%+1.25 pp
GBP/JPYGBP 4.00%JPY 1.25%+2.75 pp

The gap is arithmetic on official policy rates, not a broker's swap rate and not a forecast. Markets react to the decision against what was expected, and often more to the guidance about future meetings than to the decision itself.
